Parno Graszt
“When I go into the pub I hit the piano.” – this is the first line of the first song on the first Parno Graszt album, which was released in 2001 and since then everybody is receiving it the same way: nodding heads, arms in the air, smacking fingers and starting the crazy dance. All of this in the tempo of 160 per seconds.
They have collected their musical material from Paszab, their birth place and they are still living there, far away from the city’s noise. That is how their music could keep its ancient, alive character and the people their honest, genial personality.
Their songs were at many national and international gypsy music festivals. Their music flew all the way to India in 2008: They were searching for their musical roots, songs, people, habits in the presumed primeval home of gypsies, Radzsasztán.
There is a documentary of this wonderful journey which soon will be released on dvd.
