Tommy Víg has spent 50 successful years on jazz stages in the United States, where he had worked with the biggest studio’s best known musicians. Mia Kim, lead singer of the world famous Kim Sisters is singing American songs. Uniqe instrumentation features Tommy Vig’s music, who represents pure American jazz. He is going against today’s fashion, playing contemporary music with classical harmonies.
One of the most significant representative of Hungarian jazz was a prodigy, when at the age of 7 he has played in the city theatre, at the Music Academy and in the National Circus. At the age of 8 he had an album recording in Vienna, „Der Kunst Trommler der Welt”, on which the greatest Austrian jazz soloists had played. In 1956 as an emigrant he went back to Vienna, fleeing from communism. He was 18 at that time, performing in Fatty George’s Jazz club and at the Music Academy in Vienna with Joe Zawinul. Soon after that he had arrived to the land of promises, to the USA. The sometime prodigy got there with a few dollars in his pocket, without connections, relationships or speaking English and achieves in a few years time, what not many people have achieved so far: he becomes an acclaimed artist of film and music world.
He stays and plays music for 50 years in the USA, first in New York, then Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He moves back to Hungary in 2006. Throughout his career he works together with Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, Rod Stewart, Don Ellis, Dianna Ross, Miles Davis-Gil Evans Big Band, Joe Pass, Billy May and other acclaimed artists.
