The Banda started in 2003 and they play Slovakian folk music in a modern adaptation. The five musicians’ production is built upon the extensive knowledge of authentic folk music, but there are many musical styles influencing them. Their concerts are very dynamic, and professional. The musicians are playing on acoustic instruments: dulcimer, acoustic guitar, mandolin, viola, violin, doubles bass, accordion and different kinds of drums.
Karaván Família plays classical and modern Gypsy music with the harmony of traditional and modern thinking. It’s a real Roma folk “family business” – wife, husband, children – with Gypsy songs from Szabolcs, Mississippi delta blues, Flamenco, Balkan music and other influences from all over the world.
After them the founder of Balkan Beats, Robert Soko plays till morning.
Karaván Família
Karaván Família has formed its own style through gypsy vocal traditions, it is built on the musical and human harmonies amongst the four family members (parents and their children). They perform gypsy folk songs from the orient until the western sunset in their own style. The parents, Nagy István and Farkas Ilona were members in Romanyi Rota and in Romano Kokalo before but they have also worked with Boban Markovic. The kids joined their parents in 2003, that is how Karavan Família was born. Their first CD (Gipsy Crossroads) was out in 2006, and they finished the second one (La familijaki zor/The strengh of the family) in 2008. With the use of traditional and modern forms of gypsy folk music in harmony with traditional and modern thinking, Karavan Família brings out the most beautiful songs of gypsy folklore.
